Zealand Dietary Guidelines
- Eat
a variety of foods from each of the four
major food groups each day: vegetables
and fruit; bread and cereals; milk and
dairy products, especially low fat varieties;
and lean meats, poultry, fish, eggs, nuts
or pulses.
- Prepare
meals with minimal added fat (especially
saturated fat) and salt
- Choose
pre-prepared foods and snacks that are
low in fat (especially saturated fat),
salt and sugar
- Maintain
a healthy body weight by regular activity
and by healthy eating
- Drink
plenty of liquids each day
- If
you drink alcohol, do so in moderation
In
1992, dietary guidelines were released for
specific groups of the population, including
children, adolescents, the elderly, infants
and toddlers, pregnant women and breastfeeding
women.
