Singapore Dietary Guidelines

Eat a variety of foods
  1. Maintain desirable body weight
  2. Restrict total fat intake to 20% to 30% of total energy
  3. Modify composition of fat in the diet to one-third polyunsaturated, one-third monounsaturated and one-third saturated
  4. Reduce cholesterol intake to less than 300mg/day
  5. Maintain intakes of complex carbohydrate at about 50% of total energy intake
  6. Reduce salt intake to less than 4.5g/day (1800mg of sodium)
  7. Reduce intake of salt-cured, preserved and smoked foods
  8. Reduce intake of refined and processed sugar to less than 10% of energy.
  9. Increase intake of  fruits and vegetables and wholegrain cereal products, thereby increasing vitamins A, C and fiber
  10. For those who drink, have no more than two or three standard drinks (about 40g of alcohol) per day.
  11. Encourage breastfeeding of infants until they are at least 6 months old.
