The use of fertilizers
containing nitrogen can result in a small increase in protein content
of some foods. But the amount of vitamin C is usually decreased, probably
because of the increased growth of the fruit or vegetable.
Since plant roots
absorb nutrients in an inorganic form there is no nutritional difference
between plants that have been organically fertilized and those fertilized
using conventional fertilizers. The nutrients provided by both kinds
of fertilizer are effectively the same.
