Cider vinegar aids weight loss
False. Many claims have been made for cider vinegar. One of the most
persistent is that it helps eliminate body fat. There is no evidence for this claim. Cider vinegar is a solution of acetic
acid produced by fermentation of apples. Apart from acid and water, the vinegar contains only
relatively small quantities of minerals and other substances produced from apple fermentation.
It is not clear how it could possibly act to eliminate fat from the body, since the acetic acid is
neutralised and metabolised like other short-chain fatty acids (see
SOME DIET AIDS ALLOW YOU TO EAT ALL YOU WANT AND STILL LOSE WEIGHT) irrespective of its
origin.
